9/10/1976An Indian Airlines Boeing 737 aeroplane was hijacked for the second time and taken to Lahore, Pakistan.
11/19/1998A. B. Vajpayee approves formation of the National Security Council, a new high-power hub, to give policy directions to safeguard the country's security.
10/26/1930Gulal Bai Parekar, a14-year-old girl led a 13-girls team to hoist the national flag at Esplanade Park. A police sargeant tried to snach the flag and then kidnapped her.
6/8/1998A Disaster Management Cell (DMC) under the direct command of the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command, was set up at the Command Operations Room to liaise with the State Government and initiate necessary actions. All aircrafts were evacuated from IAF bases at Jamnagar, Bhuj and Naliya and flown to pre-determined destinations. In this meticulously planned and smoothly executed drill, more than 60 aircrafts (including helicopters) were flown out.

3/18/1919Rowlatt Act, intended to perpetuate the extraordinary powers enjoyed by the Government under Lord Chelmsford during the war, provokes countrywide protests. This Rowlatt Act was forced instead of 1915 Indian Security Act which reduced freedom of Indian people.
8/28/1904First car rally between Calcutta to Barakpur held.
