1/1/1988	The Officers Training School (OTS) was re-christened as Officers Training Academy. Besides training Indian nationals, 74 cadets from Sri Lanka have also been trained at the OTA.
4/9/1965	Fighting breaks out in the Rann of Kutch between Indian and Pakistani troops. Pakistan attacked Indian borders, Sardar Post, Chhar Bet and Beria Bet, this was manned by the State Armed Police Batallions. In Kutch launched its 8th Infantry Division supported by two regiments of M47/48 Pattons. Operation 'Desert Hawk' was launched to draw away reserves from other vulnerable areas, and possibly to test India's resolve. The Indian Army did not rise to the bait.

5/11/1999	Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case: The Supreme Court confirmed the death sentence on four of the 26 accused, life imprisionment to three and acquitted the remaining 19 people.
8/30/1659	Aurangzeb plotted the death of his brother Dara Shikoh and beheaded him. He was buried in a vault under the dome of Humayun's tomb.
9/20/1999	Shobha Subrahmanyam, managing director of the Ananda Bazaar Patrika Group of publications, was elected President of the Indian Newspaper Society for 1999-2000.
5/4/1959	Nehru rejects proposals that India and Pakistan resolve their differences and set up a common alliance against Communist China.
